Suggested Guidelines for PSR Parent Socials:

• Goals:
  • Fellowship:  this is about helping families get to know other families whose kids are peers with theirs.
  • Feedback: To share suggestions from parents or from Catechists, to improve how family & Church are engaging the youth in the Faith.
  • Formation: To Equip Parents to field questions or issues their kids or kids’ peers raise.

• Suggested duration: 60-75 minutes, with the option to stay longer for those who wish.
• Suggested Format: 
  • Sign-in.  Welcome & Introductions. Nametags may be helpful.
  • Watch/Discuss 1 Video (see suggestions below; 10-15 min + discussion.)
  • Have 2 or 3 Questions ready to facilitate discussion on the video.
  • And/or discuss any other recently-asked questions from the kids & equip parent to field these or to reinforce answers offered during class. 
    • This might be straightforward, or a fun activity using replies from catholic.com.
  • Share any feedback & suggestions after the first weeks, between PSR and the overall Youth effort.   

• Reminders / Needs:
  • Sign-up:  Clarify any specific volunteering that would support your catechists’ efforts; have a sign-up for any open dates.  (Ex: Catechists should never be alone with kids – please ask for help.)
  • Reminder that Kids should not miss more than 3 sessions before February in order to continue next semester; there are too few sessions to miss.  Help us understand why it’s hard for families to attend.
  • Any questions regarding Youth Challenge/Conquest  
  • Any questions for Service Hours grades 9-11
  • Does your grade have a grade-sponsored Mass to plan, or another event?
  • Any questions regarding Pick-up or Drop-off
